Here’s my newest smoothie recipe that provides a great energy boost whether you need a quick power breakfast, a post-workout recovery, or a smart after-school snack. I was out at the ballpark today working with the Kansas City Royals baseball players and many of them add one of my secret ingredients to their smoothies…baby spinach. I love adding baby spinach and baby carrots to boost the nutritional content of my smoothies. Both baby spinach and baby carrots are loaded with vitamin A, which is good for your eyes. I promise, try it, you will like it!

Most of my smoothie mix-ins below are common items you will likely have on hand in the pantry, refrigerator, or freezer. I used organic 1% milk, oats, honey, strawberries, 1/2 banana, baby spinach and baby carrots. Almost all the foods in this recipe are also identified as “Great for You” which means they have met specific nutritional criteria developed by experts for Walmart. Walmart created this front of the package icon to make it easier for shoppers to identify nutritious options in the produce section and for Great Value and Marketside foods.

Tip: I have mentioned this quite a bit on my blog but as your bananas get ripe make sure you peel and place in a freezer bag and then put in the freezer. These are great to add to smoothies!
